The 14th Headies! It’s time to Xplore!” A thick strong voice speaks foremost before the award commencement, culminating a sturdy background electronic sound which tends to vibrate like rumbling, and to the few audiences, from an unknown direction a brand new voice opens up the colorful night of glitz and glam; accompanied by a very special announcement for the night and at the side where almost every attendee seats quietly with their masks “on” giving 6inch distance to each other observing COVID-19 protocols.

Show performers yet to perform and acts yet to be crowned as the Night opens with a star-studded dance performing which simply portrayed Nigeria in recent her times; lurking around with the popular Fela Kuti’s “Zombie” song which took a smooth glide that perfectly melds into the dance narrative, opening something like a container filled and like one carrying the worms like Nigerian corruption, alongside a variety of dance that also narrates the massive shooting at the popular Lekki toll gate protest which claimed innocent lives, they were amplifying distant cries in their art, suggesting redemption and a plea for a savior who could bring peace in the nation rotating in confusion and turmoil in a pandemic as the background instrumentation for the next new dance pattern, glides towards Timi Dakolo’s 2012 “Great Nation” which stood and sunk to reckon as the savior & redeemer song advocating peace for Nigerians.

The dance crew automatically left with a very spectacular tang after it all and the show smoothly opened the first Winner in the “Best R&B Single” category – Fireboy DML, who had the highest nomination in the 14th Headies 2021. He won in five categories and left with one of the best performances ever.

Well, the night first move to a range of performances from Rookie acts, Alpha P, Olakira, Zinoleesky, Jamopyper, and Bad Boy Timz who won the award, from this category that was presented to him by popular Nigerian actress, Eniola Badmus and her associate, a key professional Nigerian record producer, Masterkraft, who look quite lovely and very admirable at the ceremony.

The 14th Headies award also held strong entertainment luminaries and national key players outside and in between the entertainment industry in attendant ranging from, Wizkid, AY, Lilian Afegbai, Simi Drey, Osi Suave, Omotunde Bamigbade, Iyabo Ojo, Mai Atafo, Yinka Adebayo, Trevor Henry, Eedris Araipke and other players who’ve immensely supported the growth of the industry.

Range of winners emerged in the award and the closure were almost every fan kept high hopes, seeing the crowning of the Nigeria most promising super-star literally left them with a wide grin as Omah Lay rightly claimed what truly belongs to him in the Night exceeding too many glories.

Omah Lay, abruptly seized the night and laid in the sunk of his magnificent moment to receive the Headies Award alongside other Next rated nominees, excluding Tems – the popular “Damage” crooner.

The night also basked in glamour as Wizkid won multiple categories including “Artiste of The Year”, he also claimed it in the “Song Of The Year” and other categories respectively.

The Night virtually welcomed South Africa’s Master KG’s 2020 “Jerusalema” record, with the band’s astonishing performance strongly connected from SA – it was strictly virtual illuminating fun!

KG, scaled through among-st his other African contemporaries and he gained the African Artistes recognition with his strong polarizing hit record that represented a blast in Nigeria and made up an outstanding collabo with Nigerian, Burna Boy in the same year.

Several categories came up that held super-talented winners alongside Best R&B Album, Best Rap Album, Best R&B Single, Best Pop Single, Best Rap Single, Rookie of the Year, Hip Hop World Revelation of the Year, Best Street Hop Artiste, Producer of the Year and others including special recognition to the special Headies Hall of Fame, King Sunny Ade and Special Recognition Award to Nigerian Hip-hop icon, Eedris Abdulkareem.
