EKKSTACY Does a Little of Everything on Self-Titled LP

EKKSTACY Does a Little of Everything on Self-Titled LP

Emerging Canadian musician EKKSTACY has dropped off quite an expansive exploration into his artistry. In just 13 tracks, EKKSTACYS’s self-titled EKKSTACY album takes listeners through many genres, tempos and emotions, enlisting the likes of fellow sad-boy rappers Trippie Redd and The Kid LAROI.

“As you know it took me a while to make this record. At first, I didn’t even know I was making an album,” he wrote in an Instagram caption. “I was kind of just making songs here and there whenever I wanted to. Then I started the never-ending f****** tour as you all know. Made some songs in hotels here and there. I feel like being on the road so much was inspiring for me this time.”

With only three songs on the project clocking in at longer than three minutes (and barely, at that), EKKSTACY offers a smooth, consumable listen that is far from repetitive. He first dropped off “problems” with Trippie Redd back in September which quickly raked up views on YouTube and listens on DSPs, and followed it up with indie-pop influenced “bella,” which also was met with the same positive response.

“Being honest… I had fallen out of love with the record. Maybe I heard it too many times, maybe I changed, I do not know. As I started releasing the singles the love slowly started coming back. All of you helped me with that (love you).”
