EARTHGANG is paying their respects to great Erykah Badu with a brand new single, aptly titled “Erykah.”
The cut arrives with an accompanying music video inspired by Badu’s 2010 track “Window Seat,” which in turn was inspired by duo Matt and Kim. “First time I heard an Erykah Badu song, I was probably like six. I was riding around with my uncle on 285 on the West Side,” the intro to “Erykah” hears. “And ‘On and On’ came on the radio, and I was like, ‘I ain’t ever heard or felt nothing like this before.’ This was my first introduction to like, what music could do for the body, for the spirit.” The rest of the visual sees Olu, WowGr8 and their friends enjoy a sunny vacation in the tropics.
The Dreamville duo is set to release their major label sophomore effort Ghetto Gods some time this year, and it will mark their first full-length album since 2019’s Mirrorland. EARTHAGNG has released a series of singles since then, notably “Options” with Wale and “Run It Up” with Snakehips, as well as appeared on Spillage Village‘s debut album Spilligion in September 2020.

Elsewhere in music, De La Soul finally owns the rights to all their masters for the first time in years.
