Beginning in the early 2000s onwards, the EA SPORTS FIFA franchise has been known for curating songs that would come to define generations, with those soundtracks forever holding a spot in the minds of avid players over the years. Putting a heavy emphasis on the youth, the track selections evolve to reflect real-life music trends and cultures of the time. Ahead of this year’s 2022 FIFA World Cup, EA SPORTS FIFA has now unveiled the Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack featuring the best songs from the last quarter century.
On November, 2, EA SPORTS invited the FIFA community to nominate their favorite tunes. The top 100 list was finalized on November 7, and the top 40 of the 100 songs published on Spotify will make a return in FIFA 23 alongside the FIFA World Cup expansion update on November 9. At the time of writing, the five most listened-to FIFA songs on Spotify are “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals, “The Nights” by Avicii, “you should see me in a crown” by Billie Eilish, “On Top Of The World” by Imagine Dragons, and “Ojitos Lindos” by Bad Bunny and Bomba Estéreo.
Another track to look out for is Gorillaz‘s single “Baby Queen” which was released in collaboration with EA SPORTS FIFA with custom Gorillaz kits set to be revealed on FIFA Ultimate Team later this month.
“For the past quarter century, EA SPORTS FIFA has been a destination for new music from up-and-coming artists and superstars alike. Every fan has their favorite FIFA tracks, and this playlist is the ultimate celebration of the music that has defined discovery, diversity, and excellence for generations of gamers,” says Steve Schnur, President, Music at EA. “Originally, FIFA soundtracks reflected global culture. Then they began to influence culture. The Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack proves how and why they’ve become culture.”
