Amazon’s New Palm-Scanning Technology Allows Customers to Buy Alcohol Without Showing ID
Amazon has expanded its evolving palm identification tool – Amazon One — to include age verification. Users can now verify their age by hovering their palms over the device, allowing them to purchase alcohol without presenting a traditional government ID.
This new feature has been introduced at Colorado’s Coors Field, and enrolled customers can upload photos of their ID and a selfie to enable alcohol purchases with a simple palm scan. Moving forward, the technology may continue to offer efficient check-in processes at additional venues while Amazon continues to develop the novel technology.
Apple Announced Schedule for 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference
Apple has announced the schedule for this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), set to take place from June 5 to June 9. During the event, Apple will unveil new technologies, updates and products.
Anticipated announcements include iOS 17 and macOS 14 content updates, as well as watchOS 10 for Apple Watch. Adding to the anticipation, fans are eagerly awaiting the potential unveiling of the long-awaited AR/VR headset and a rumored 15-inch MacBook Air. While primarily aimed at developers, the conference will be livestreamed for anyone to watch.
Leica Unveiled Q3, Its Next-Gen Full-Frame Compact Camera
In continuation of its dominance in the industry, Leica has introduced the third generation of its popular Q series compact cameras, known as the Leica Q3. It features a new full-frame BSI-CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology, offering 60, 36, or 18 MP image formats to cater to different user preferences. The camera includes an ISO range of 50 to 100,000, the latest Maestro Series processor and L2 Technology.
Notable upgrades include a high-resolution 3-inch tilting touchscreen display and a new hybrid autofocus system for improved tracking and focusing accuracy. The Q3 supports up to 8k video recording and wireless charging via the Leica Charging Pad. It retains Leica’s signature sleek and timeless design and will be available for approximately $6,558 USD online and in stores worldwide.
Dyson Launched the World’s Most Powerful Robot Vacuum
Dyson has introduced what it claims to be the world’s most powerful robot vacuum. The new offering features a Hyperdymium™ motor spinning at 110,000 rpm, delivering double the suction power of its closest competitor.
It offers four modes, including an Auto mode with a piezo sensor that adjusts suction based on dust levels. The vacuum includes a five-stage HEPA filtration system and 26 sensors for 360-degree vision. Other notable features include a wall dock for automatic recharge, dual-link suspension for climbing up to 21mm and bin clear indicators. With 2.5 hours of charge time, it provides up to 50 minutes of runtime. Control and customization can be done through the MyDyson app. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is available online and at select retailers for $2,399 USD.
