‘Dune’ Wins Big at the International Box Office

The highly anticipated film Dune has opened to tremendous results, especially overseas, raking in $36.8 million USD at the global office within the first 24 hours of its premiere.

According to Deadline, the film is tracking extremely well and opened to the number one position in virtually every market. The Denis Villeneuve film is currently tracking 4% ahead of TENET, 33% ahead of Black Widow, 52% ahead of Blade Runner 2049, 58% above Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and 80% ahead of Godzilla vs Kong. Its IMAX performance has done particularly well as the film was directed with that viewing experience in mind, bringing in $3.6 million USD from just 142 screens.

On the other end, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has also had an impressive run, now topping $320 million worldwide. The sum elevates the Marvel film to the fourth biggest Hollywood film in the year and is ranked first at the box office across Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and the U.K.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix has released the official trailer for You season three.
