‘Dune: Part 2’ Begins Production With October 2023 Premiere Date

With just a little more than a year to go before its theatrical release, the sequel to Denis Villeneuve‘s 2021 hit Dune has finally begun production. The movie announced the start of shooting via its official Twitter account, posting a photo of Dune: Part 2‘s clapper board along with the caption “We’re rolling.”

While those who’ve seen the original film will know the fate of many of the characters in part one, Villeneuve has recruited yet another all-star cast to replace the franchise’s outgoing characters including Academy Award winner Christopher Walken, Black Widow star Florence Pugh, Elvis actor Austin Butler, and James Bond‘s Léa Seydoux. Of course, there’ll also be some key players returning, including lead actor and actress Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgår, Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling, Stephen McKinley Henderson. As the synopsis reads:

“This follow-up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”

Dune: Part 2 is scheduled to hit theaters October 20, 2023.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Jordan Peele has addressed the possibility of a Get Out sequel.
