Beloved Los Angles-based internet radio station dublab has been awarded a grant to program original compositions at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The announcement was made in a now-deleted Instagram post on January 10.

Encompassing a truly diverse set of sub genres, from ambient and indie to jazz and techno, dublab was founded in 1999 to share forward-thinking, freeform radio with an international audience. Its roster currently includes American producer and visual artist, Teebs and has also featured revered legends in Laraaji and rising British producer-DJ, Seb Wildblood.

“We are honored to curate diverse and memorable art experiences to enhance and humanize the travel experience,” wrote the post via dublab’s Instagram. The collective will enlist 30 members from its lineup to create soundscapes along several of LAX’s terminals, including the busy Tom Bradley International Terminal.

“The LAX Art Program is focused on showcasing talented artists from Southern California who represent the creativity of the region,” said Justin Erbacci, Chief Executive Officer of the Los Angeles World Airport whom awarded the grant. “This newly installed work and exhibition complement the path our guests travel to reach the West Gates and greatly enhance the passenger experience allowing our guests to discover the best of Los Angeles culture throughout their journey.”

In conjunction to its online offerings, dublab regularly hosts events across its home city, including a recent pop-up marketplace in collaboration with In Sheep’s Clothing called “Sound & Vision” at The Row in DTLA.
