Dua Lipa Honors Pop Smoke in Lavish “Demeanor” Music Video

Dua Lipa is taking it back to the 19th century in a new music video for her song “Demeanor” featuring late rapper Pop Smoke.

The high-production video opens with Lipa touching up her makeup before joining her guests at a Victorian dinner party, powdered wigs and all. In frilly Victorian garb, the guests dance in the dining room as Lipa sings about serving that “je ne sais quoi energy,” styled by Lorenzo Posocco in a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier corset from the designer’s 1998 collection.

In the background of the party, a moving painting depicts different versions of Smoke and white doves, and at the end of the video, the camera concentrates on the painting as the music fades in a concluding tribute to the rapper.

While announcing the release of the video on Instagram, Lipa thanked Pop Smoke’s team and family for having her appear on the single.

Directed by Nabil, the visual arrives a few days after Pop Smoke’s posthumous second album Faith, off of which the track comes, debuted atop the Billboard 200. Other collaborations on the LP include Kanye West, Pusha T, Rick Ross, Future, 21 Savage and more.

In other music news, Lauryn Hill, Usher, Brandy and more will lead the Lovers & Friends Festival 2022 lineup.
