DRIFT has built up a steady career of enchanting visual installations that includes suspending a giant concrete sculpture, the immersive Superblue experience to the moving drone tribute to the late-Virgil Abloh. For their latest project, members Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Naut will unveil their most extensive presentation in Germany to date.
To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, “Moments of Connection” will transform nearly 3,800 square feet of MK&G into a transformative space with three kinetic installations that allow visitors to experience the deep connection between humans and nature. For example, In SHYLIGHT, several amorphous dandelion sculptures unfurl and retract in a way the artist’s aim to mimic the flight of animals.
Commissioned by Elbphilharmonie Hamburg in conjunction with MK&G, the work on display is meant to illuminate the exterior of the former into a riveting experience that harmonizes with the surrounding environment. “Moments of Connection” will be on view from January 7 to May 8, 2022.
Elsewhere in art, Chiharu Shiota presents her largest solo exhibition in Shanghai.
