Dreamville President Ib Hamad has addressed the long-running discussion of J. Cole‘s Friday Night Lights hitting streaming services.
Taking to Twitter to talk to Cole’s fans, Hamad reminded them that the rapper hopped on several beats from Kanye West and that getting samples cleared is not an easy task for anyone. “when y’all keep asking me everyday for FNL and The Warm Up and The Come Up on streaming just remember cole rapped on like 10 Kanye beats,” he tweeted with some laughing emojis. “I swear Once Kanye clears it I got y’all.”
The exec’s tweet arrives shortly after Cole performed “Villematic,” which includes a sample of West and Rick Ross’ “Devil In A New Dress,” during Sunday night of Dreamville Fest 2023. “Shout out to Kanye West. Please clear the sample for me, my brother. I appreciate it,” he said after the performance.
Stay tuned for any updates.
