Drake Speaks on the First Time He Listened to The Weeknd’s Music

Drake took a second to remember his first interaction with The Weeknd‘s music, taking to Instagram Stories to share that pivotal moment.

The videos were posted just before The Weeknd was meant to kick off his “After Hours til Dawn Tour” in Toronto. “Okay, look. This right here, this little driveway area right here was the first place that I ever heard The Weeknd’s music. Shoutout to Oliver [El-Khatib], of course, my brother. Oliver played me The Weekend right here,” The Boy said. “This is my old building in Toronto. We were parked out here. It was raining.”

He continued to give The Weeknd his flowers, “That same guy is selling out the SkyDome tomorrow. That man is selling out the SkyDome tomorrow.” Drake added, “I just want anybody that’s trying to do this shit to understand I heard this man’s music right here for the first time, pouring rain. It’s a great life.”

Unfortunately, The Weeknd’s first stadium show had to be postponed at the last minute due to the Rogers outage. “The Weeknd was onsite and ready to play but due to the nationwide Rogers network outage The Weeknd show planned for this evening at Rogers Centre will be postponed as the venue’s operations & infrastructure are not possible until full service is back,” Live Nation shared in a statement. “

Please hold on to your ticket. Updates on a new date coming soon.”

The Weeknd stated, “I’m crushed & heartbroken. Been at the venue all day but it’s out of my hands because of the Rogers outage. Operations and safety are compromised and I tried my absolute best. This one hurts the most, and we will make this show happen, but unfortunately not tonight.” He continued, “I know how long you’ve been waiting and how hard a lot of you worked to make it to the show and experience this special moment with me. I can’t wait to see you all.”

Elsewhere in music, stream Kid Cudi’s previously unreleased track “love.”
