Drake Snags No. 1 In Australia With ‘Dark Lane Demo Tapes’

Drake bags his third No. 1 album in Australia, with Dark Lane Demo Tapes (Republic/Universal).

The Canadian hip-hop star’s new mixtape bows at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, equaling the chart peaks of his 2016 release Views and 2018’s Scorpion.

Dark Lane becomes Drake’s eighth title to impact the top 10 on the ARIA chart, and it opens at No. 2 in the U.K. and No. 1 in the U.K., where Drizzy does the chart double.

The Australian top five is completed by former chart-leaders in Harry StylesFine Line (Columbia/Sony), Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia (Warner), Birds Of Tokyo’s Human Design (EMI) and Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Interscope/Universal), respectively.

Also new to the chart this week is Elevation Worship’s Graves Into Gardens (Live) (Sony), at No. 38. It’s the U.S. worship group’s third appearance in the top 50 after There Is A Cloud (No. 33 in March 2017) and Here As In Heaven (No. 27 in February 2016).

And at the other end of the music spectrum, Killswitch Engage see new release Atonement II B-Sides For Charity (Metal Blade Records/Orchard) opens at No. 45, their seventh appearance in the ARIA Top 50. The six-track release is raises funds for the fight against COVID-19.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, SAINt JHN’s “Roses” (Sony) enters a fifth non-consecutive week at the top, while The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (Republic/Universal) and Drake’s “Toosie Slide”(Republic/Universal) hold at No. 2 and 3, respectively.

In its sixth week on the chart, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” (Warner) rises 20-4 for its first stint in the top 10. The track, which raises funds for Bread of Life’s Houston COVID-19 relief efforts, is powered by a remix featuring Beyoncé.

Doja Cat’s viral hit “Say So” (RCA/Sony) is up 8-5 while Marshmello and Halsey score the week’s highest debut with their collaborative single “Be Kind” (Capitol/EMI), new at No. 16.
