As pickleball continues to claim courts, social media feeds and major headlines throughout summer 2023, Major League Pickleball‘s Brooklyn Aces team has added Drake and Michael B. Jordan, among others, to its roster of investors.
“We’re thrilled to have this incredible group of investors join the Brooklyn Aces as we continue to grow the team and raise the profile of Major League Pickleball,” Rich Kleiman, Boardroom CEO and Aces majority owner – alongside Kevin Durant – explains of the team’s latest lineup of investors. In addition to Drizzy and Michael B., a stacked slew of credible funders – including UnitedMasters and Translation founder Steve Stoute – will back the Brooklyn-based ballers. “In addition to the marketing and creative acumen that Michael B. Jordan, Drake and Steve Stoute bring to the table, our investor group includes some of the savviest entrepreneurs in the business. We’re looking forward to what our second season brings.”
The Major League Pickleball, dubbed MLP, is comprised of 24 teams in both the Premier and Challenger levels. In the combined ranking, the Brooklyn Aces – jumping up to the Premier Division this season – currently hold the 15th spot with 19 total event points. To commemorate the team’s level up to Premier, the Aces unveiled a new logo, which features the Brooklyn Bridge against the New York City skyline. In late September, the Brooklyn Aces are set to take the courts in Peachtree Corners, Georgia for their first tournament of the second half of the season. But even sooner, the team will link with PowerPlay NYC to host the Aces Day of Play at New York City’s CityPickle courts in Union Square on August 3: a free event targeted to foster community (and court-side competition) among NYC youth.
