Hip-hop fans are in for a treat as it appears that the rap mogul himself, Dr. Dre, has been cooking up some new tracks in the studio. Fresh off of his unexpected collab on Kanye West‘s new song “Glory,” Dr. Dre seems to be prepping brand new material.
This week, Diggin’ in the Crates own hip-hop legend, Diamond D took to Instagram to announce that he has heard some unreleased projects from Dre himself. He writes, “@drdre played about 2hrs of straight unreleased heat rocks for me and @xzibit today. #ondeck shouts out to @focus3dots.” Just last week, Grandmaster Flash, another hip-hop icon, teased fans that he had also listened to some never-before-heard music from Dre. Flash wrote on Instagram, “I get a call from one of my heroes he invites me to the CRIB he takes me down to the STUDIO he played me a project that will change the game!!”
It remains to be seen if fans will see a Dr. Dre drop a full-length album or singles by the end of this year. His last album, Compton was released in 2015, which came 16 years after his critically acclaimed 1999, sophomore album 2001. Though that is the case, Dre has not been completely dormant in music as he previously appeared on Eminem’s latest 2020 album, Music to Be Murdered By.
In other music news, De La Soul spoke about the return of their catalog to streaming services.
