After dropping off hints throughout the summer – a.k.a singles “Attention” and “Paint the Town Red” – Doja Cat is readying the release of her fourth studio album, Scarlet. Releasing next month, the rapper took to her socials to reveal the album’s intended release date and cover art – as well as a horror movie-inspired trailer ahead of her new single “Demons.”
Doja took to her Instagram to share Scarlet‘s cover art, which takes the form of a purple spider. “SCARLET 9.22,” the caption reads, revealing the upcoming end-of-September drop date.
She also has been hinting at a track called “Demons”, delivering a run of ominous and on-brand social media posts that point to the new track’s music video release. “Demons” also sees its own retro-horror-movie-inspired trailer starring scary-movie aficionado, Christina Ricci. “This summer comes a haunting new tale from the twisted minds of Doja Cat and Christian Breslauer,” the narrator hauntingly voiceovers. The video closes – “Christina Ricci and Doja Cat star in ‘Demons’” – transitioning into a short preview of the track as the cover screen pans over. Stream the trailer for “Demons” below.
Doja will also be embarking on The Scarlet Tour in support of the forthcoming LP, hitting a slew of U.S. cities with special guests Ice Spice and Doechii in tow.
