Documentary on Wu-Tang Clan’s Ol’ Dirty Bastard to Premiere Next Month

Ol’ Dirty Bastard is the subject of a forthcoming documentary premiering on A&E next month. Entitled Ol’ Dirty Bastard: A Tale of Two Dirtys, the film serves as the first authorized documentary on the late Wu-Tang Clan rapper, who passed away at 35 from an accidental drug overdose.

For the two-hour project, father-son director duo Sam and Jason Pollard interviewed fellow Wu-Tang members Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Mariah Carey and industry executives. They also spoke to ODB’s wife Icelene Jones, his son Bar-Sun Jones and his parents.

Interspersed with the interviews is never-before-scene footage shot by Icelene, featuring snapshots of ODB’s home life as a husband and father.

The documentary will chart ODB’s childhood and subsequent rise in the rap scene. It’ll also hone in on his struggles with legal troubles, mental health, addiction and fame, posing questions about how the industry contributed to his tragic death.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard: A Tale of Two Dirtys premieres on A&E on Sunday, August 25, and will be available for streaming the following day.
