DJ Khaled Breaks Down “Juice WRLD DID” Collaboration: “I Felt Like [He] Was in My Studio”

Earlier this week, DJ Khaled hosted a Twitter Spaces with JAY-Z and several music executives, during which he divulged exactly how his “Juice WRLD DID” collaboration came to fruition.

During their conversation, Khaled explained that Chicago’s Lil Bibby, who signed Juice WRLD to his label Grade A Production, sent him an MP3 file that included a track that the late rapper had created specifically for Khaled.

“I get a text from Bibby [that] said, ‘I heard you’re working on your album, GOD DID.’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ And he sent an MP3 immediately,” Khaled said. “I ain’t get a chance to reply yet. So I listen to it on my phone and I start looking around like, ‘Am I bugging? Am I tripping right now?’”

“I immediately ran to my laptop, had a little set up outside ’cause I was in my last-minute magic mode for the album … And Juice WRLD made a song talking about DJ Khaled, ‘another one’ and We The Best. Not a verse — a whole song,” he added. “I’m looking around like, ‘What the f*** is going on?’ I felt like Juice WRLD was in my studio and recorded that.”

“Juice WRLD DID” arrived as part of Khaled’s 13th studio album, GOD DID, which features a total of 18 songs, with a slew of impressive features from artists including JAY-Z, Quavo, Takeoff, Nardo Wick, Kodak Black,Drake, Lil Baby, EminemFutureTravis ScottRick RossCity GirlsDon ToliverKanye WestSZAGunnaLatto and John Legend, among others.

The latest full-length effort from Khaled is expected to open at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, moving approximately 105,000 to 115,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.

Juice WRLD’s legendary legacy continues to live on through music — earlier this year, the late star’s estate released a series of music videos for tracks including “Cigarettes” and “Go Hard 2.0,” as well as a new vinyl edition of his highly revered Fighting Demons record.
