Disney‘s upcoming live-action Star Wars film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, as well other offerings such as Toy Story 5 and the live-action Moana are all set to hit theaters in 2026.
According to Variety, The Mandalorian spinoff film will open on May 22, 2026 and Toy Story 5 — the followup to 2019’s fourth installment — will premiere on June 19, 2026. Meanwhile, Moana, which will feature Dwayne Johnson reprise his role from the animated film, has been delayed from 2025 to July 10, 2026.
In 2025, Disney will also release the Tron standalone sequel Tron: Ares on October 10, 2025 and the Rami Malek-led The Amateur on April 11, 2025.
The Mandalorian & Grogu will be helmed by Jon Favreau and is scheduled to begin production this year. “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau previously said. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.
