Diddy Unveils First Solo LP in 17 Years, ‘The Love Album: Off the Grid’

Diddy Unveils First Solo LP in 17 Years, ‘The Love Album: Off the Grid’

Diddy is lovesick on his first new album in nearly two decades. The rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, had taken a step back from music to focus on being an entrepreneur. In 2013, he launched Combs Enterprises as the parent company to oversee his many ventures, which encompasses a record label, spirits brand, TV channel, clothing label and a non-profit foundation.

Today, September 15, he delivered the long-awaited comeback record and follow-up to 2006’s Press Play. Entitled The Love Album: Off the Grid, the 23-song project is a timeless tribute to the R&B sound and themes that have shaped him. It’s also his forest release under his label, Love Records.

Features on the LP come from a star-studded lineup of guest artists that includes Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber, Teyana Taylor, Summer Walker, Burna Boy and Jazmine Sullivan.

“It’s been three years in the making and I stepped away from music for a while — just going through life’s peaks and valleys,” he told Today. “And to be able to return back to music, my first love, and to put out some great R&B music for y’all today is incredible.”
