Sean “Diddy” Combs will be held in custody until he goes to trial, which is currently set for May 5, 2025.
The rapper is being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center and made his first court appearance for a hearing in front of Judge Arun Subramanian on Thursday. He’s being charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. If found guilty, Combs faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and up to a life sentence.
In the courtroom, the lead prosecutor told the judge that the prosecution’s case would last at least three weeks. Combs’ defense attorney said that his case would last one week.
Earlier this week, Combs’ legal team appealed his jail stay, advocating for the release of Combs on a bail of $50 million USD. The judge denied the request, saying there were “no conditions” that could be imposed that would allow Combs to be properly monitored if released.
