Following the release of his new album, The Love Album: Off the Grid, Diddy is making his directorial debut, upping the ante for his upcoming film based off the sounds of the album. The first look trailer of the new film Off the Grid has officially been dropped and sees Diddy starring alongside Eva Apio in a romantic whirlwind.
Directed by Combs himself, the cinematic love story sets the backdrop for his new album, weaving the narrative of the sonics of The Love Album into the plot. Depicting a passionate and drama driven turbulent and budding romance story, the film sees the two endure the spirit of love. Diddy said on the film, “This movie is an extension of the album’s soul. It’s not just about the music but about the stories, emotions, and experiences behind each song. Working with Eva Apio was an incredible experience; her talent and energy brought my vision to life.”
From high-speed car chases with the cops to intimate moments where the characters share moments of vulnerability and their undeniable chemistry, Off the Grid has it all. The album itself features tracks collaborated with the likes of Justin Bieber, Abel Tesfaye formerly known as The Weeknd, Mary J. Blige, Summer Walker, H.E.R. Jazmine Sullivan and more. In conversation with Billboard last month, Diddy said, “This isn’t just an R&B album; it’s an R&B movie [about love]. It’s probably one of the biggest collections of talent ever, all unified on one album. And I happen to be blessed to have The Weeknd’s last feature. The song talks about being unique, in a sense — telling your ex-girl that another one of me won’t come around.”
No official release date has been set for Off the Grid but it is set to hit theaters soon. Watch the trailer above.
