Coldplay have revealed a new video for their song “All My Love” directed by Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore and starring the legendary actor Dick Van Dyke.
The official video arrives today, December 13th — Van Dyke’s 99th(!) birthday — but a special extended directors’ cut of the video premiered last Friday, December 6th. The directors’ cut features special documentary footage of Van Dyke at his Malibu home surrounded by friends and family, as well as archival footage of Van Dyke’s various Hollywood projects, like Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and more.
Throughout, Van Dyke dances barefoot, embraces his family, and reflects on his mortality: “I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now, but I don’t know why it doesn’t concern me,” Van Dyke says. “I’m not afraid of it. I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual I have, that I’m going to be alright.”

Meanwhile, Coldplay’s Chris Martin leads some of the celebrations, performing on a piano in Van Dyke’s backyard and duetting “All My Love” with the iconic performer. The extended edition closes with Martin and Van Dyke sitting on the piano once more as Martin improvises a cheeky song about getting older (and Van Dyke lights up with laughter).
The official, shortened video for “All My Love” features much of the same shots as the directors’ cut, but with a few new additions. Van Dyke lip-syncs certain lyrics, dances in slow motion, and looks back on photos from his childhood, early adult life, and career. Watch both the official video for “All My Love” as well as the extended directors’ cut below.
“All My Love” arrived back in October as the third and final single from Coldplay’s 10th album, Moon Music. After setting global records for their “Music of the Spheres” tour in Europe and beyond this year, they’re heading back out on tour for a North American run next year. As for Dick Van Dyke, he seems generally undeterred by his proximity to 100-years-old. He picked up a Creative Arts Emmy for his recent special, Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic this year and tying Norman Lear as the oldest recipient of the award. In more nerve-racking news, however, Van Dyke was at his Malibu home (the same one from this video) during a series of wildfires in the area this week; he told Today that he had “exhausted” himself trying to crawl to his car to evacuate, had to have his neighbors help him, and even lost his cat Bobo in the process. Rest assured, Bobo was found, and both the cat, Van Dyke, and his family are safe and sound.
