Deshaun Watson was hit with another lawsuit last month accusing the NFL quarterback of sexual assault and battery, but the case appears to be in Watson’s rearview. In a new report, the attorney for the accuser says that the lawsuit has been settled.
ESPN shared a report on Monday (October 7) that the lawsuit filed against Deshaun Watson was dropped with the attorney issuing a statement to the network.
“We have now resolved our client’s claim with Deshaun Watson,” Tony Buzbee, the plaintiff’s attorney, told ESPN Monday night on behalf of the woman. “The settlement is confidential.”
In a separate statement, Rusty Hardin, the attorney for Watson, also confirmed that the case is settled.
In the lawsuit filed near the top of September in Harris County, Texas, the plaintiff alleged that in October 2020 she and Watson were due to have dinner at her apartment. Hardin issued a statement on behalf of his client denying that any wrongdoing took place while having dinner with the woman.
The NFL reportedly reviewed the complaint under its personal conduct policy guidelines but Watson was spared from being added to the commissioner’s exempt list as he was not formally charged. NFL officials decided not to offer any further details.
Deshaun Watson was a member of the Houston Texans in 2020 and currently plays for the Cleveland Browns.
