Denzel Curry is serving up raw, authentic heat on his latest single “13LOOD ON MY NIKEZ.” In the latest cut from Curry, dark, introspective lyrics seamlessly align with the hard-hitting, head-banging beat.
Clocking in at under two minutes, every bar of “13LOOD ON MY NIKEZ” packs a punch. Curry leans into the style of his revered mixtape days, bringing his mesmeric tone to the aggressive lyrics. He steps over the pre-chorus: “Okay, okay, said it all, I’ma do the damn thang / Put my name on my gang or my g*ddamn chain / To a rich n*gga, you a g*ddamn lame / To a broke n*gga, you a g*ddamn stain.” He follows this up with the hauntingly repetitive “Mane, let me wipe the blood off my Nikes, ayy!” chorus.
The music video, like Curry’s flow, is hypnotic. Directed by Omar Jones, the video’s cinematographic choices and trippy visual effects leave the listener unable to look away, as grainy group shots intermix with close-ups of Curry’s grillz.
This is the Florida rapper’s first track since he released Melt My Eyez See Your Future in 2022. He is set to headline the three-day Capitol Hill Block Party music festival in Seattle this weekend.
