David Tennant Makes a Momentous Return in ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Special Teaser

2023 will mark 60 years since the first episode of Doctor Who aired on BBC. In the six decades since its debut, the cult show has broken the world record for longest running sci-fi series and has already seen, to date, 13 different actors and actresses star in the titular role.

For its upcoming season, set to premiere in November 2023, one star will be returning to the lead role for the first time in the series’ history. David Tennant, who portrayed the 10th incarnation of the Doctor from 2005 to 2010, will once again grace screens in the new season.

Alongside Tennant, Catherine Tate will play Donna Noble and Neil Patrick Harris is set to appear as an unnamed villain. Jacqueline King and Karl Collins will reprise their roles as Sylvia Noble and Shaun Temple, respectively. Ruth Madeley will join the series as a new character named Shirley Anne Brigham.

BBC’s one-minute teaser finishes with a sneak peek at Tennant’s successor, the forthcoming 15th time lord played by Ncuti Gatwa. Gatwa’s season is expected to begin airing sometime in 2024.
