David Lynch and Chrystabell Announce New Album, Premiere Lynch-Directed Music Video

Academy Award-nominated director David Lynch has returned from his creative hiatus to direct longtime collaborator Chrystabell’s latest music video for her song, “Sublime Eternal Love”. This single is off the duo’s upcoming collaborative album, Cellophane Memories set to release on August 2.

The video, directed and photographed by Lynch, is stripped down and haunting as it focuses on three simultaneous close-ups of Chrystabell, illuminated by flickering lights. Instrumentals are at a volume barely above a whisper, allowing her eerie, enchanting voice to take center stage and spotlight the surreal ethos that’s core to Lynch’s filmmaking practice.

The duo have an extensive history of working together, dating back to Lynch’s last feature film, 2006’s Inland Empire, in which Chrystabell worked on the soundtrack. Since then Lynch has produced her debut album, 2011’s This Train, and her 2017 EP, Somewhere in the Nowhere. In 2017 she also joined Lynch on the TV series Twin Peaks: The Revival in which she played Special Agent Tamara Preston.

Lynch hasn’t only saved music for collaborations as he’s released solo work in the past. His two solo albums, 2011’s Crazy Clown Time and 2013’s The Big Dream marked his independent venture into the music industry. He has also worked with composer Angelo Badalamenti on the Twin Peaks soundtrack and a 2018 collaboration album, Thought Gang.
