Disney+ has shared a new trailer for its forthcoming series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, releasing later this month. Starring Ewan McGregor in a reprisal of his iconic role as the Jedi Master, the show takes place ten years after 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
“The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader,” a description of the series reads.
While previous trailers have teased the backstory of the exiled Kenobi, this new video closes with a montage of close-up shots of the bionic suit of Vader (portrayed by Hayden Christensen) being assembled. After locking an arm in place and tweaking a few screws, the Sith Lord’s chest panel lights up to signal his forthcoming return.
Alongside McGregor and Christensen, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s cast includes Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Moses Ingram, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend and Sung Kang. The miniseries is directed by Deborah Chow, with Joby Harold on board as showrunner.
