Daniel Arsham has teamed up with custom Porsche interior expert Justin Placek for a specialized makeover of his 993 Carrera S project car. The collaboration marks the second time the two have worked together, alongside celebrated mechanic Greg Anagnostopoulos — with the first project being the Porsche Sculpture car, part of Arsham’s 20 years exhibition for Perrotin.
As for this latest build, which Arsham teased briefly in a recent Hypedrive interview, Placek opted for Porsche 993 Hardback style seats. The seats are finished in dark green leather with the backs coated in a lighter shade that matches the exterior of the car. Notably, it took the interior designer over 350 hours to complete the custom work, with every detail hand-wrapped. Placek explained that the time spent on the smaller parts made up more than 50% of the total time used creating the full interior.
Other notable details include Arsham’s logo on the headrests, which were digitalized and printed using the same methods that Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur would use. In a comment on the project, Placek shared that this is a very special one for him, as he also owns a 993 model. Once complete, the interior will be sent off for installation and after Arsham and Anagnostopoulos put on the final touches, the car will make its way to The Bridge car show in the Hamptons for its debut this September.
