Dakota Johnson Says She “Will Never Do Anything” Like ‘Madame Web’ Again

Dakota Johnson Says She "Will Never Do Anything" Like 'Madame Web' Again

Dakota Johnson addressed the backlash Madame Web has been receiving, stating that she “probably will never do anything like it again.”

In a recent interview with Bustlethe actress revealed that she’s “not surprised” by the film’s negative reviews. Johnson went on to explain that the decisions in major studio films are being made by committees, “and art does not do well when it’s made by committee.” She continued, “Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms.” She also stated that audiences “are extremely smart” and “will always be able to sniff out bullsh*t” despite the common belief amongst executives, and that no one would want to se AI-made films.

She added that her time on Madame Web “was definitely an experience” as it was her first time being part of a film like that, but the chances of her doing a similar project is very low. “…I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now,” Johnson shared. “But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, Wait, what?” she said.

“But it was a real learning experience,” she continued, “and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.”
