Daft Punk re-enters Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated Dec. 25) at No. 1 with its Tron: Legacy soundtrack, following the release of its Target exclusive blue/clear vinyl edition. The set registered 10,000 equivalent album units in the Dec. 10-16 tracking week, up 1,364%, with nearly all (94%) from physical sales, according to MRC Data.
It’s the 11th total week at No. 1 for Tron, and its first since April 30, 2011. In its first chart run, the soundtrack to the hit 2010 sci-fi film debuted atop the chart dated exactly 11 years ago this week (Dec. 25, 2010). Among 10 career entries on the chart, the now-defunct French duo owns six No. 1s, the most of any duo or group, and trails only Louie DeVito and Lady Gaga, each with seven toppers, dating to the chart’s 2001 inception.

Daft Punk’s other Top Dance/Electronic Albums No. 1s are: Human After All (2005), Alive 2007 (two weeks at No. 1, 2007), Tron: Legacy Reconfigured (2011), Random Access Memories (21 weeks, 2013-14) and Discovery (2021).
‘Birthday’ present: Tempo and El Alfa begin at No. 23 on the multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with “Happy Birthday.” The Latin/EDM crossover track, which heavily samples Reel 2 Real’s “I Like to Move It,” featuring The Mad Stuntman (which reached No. 8 on Dance Club Songs and No. 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994), earned 1.1 million airplay audience impressions and 484,000 U.S. streams in the tracking week.
On Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, “Birthday” marks Tempo’s first appearance. It’s the first as a lead act, and third overall, for El Alfa, who was previously featured on Major Lazer and J Balvin’s “Que Calor” (No. 6, 2019) and, alongside Sean Paul, Play N Skillz and Sfera Ebbasta, on Steve Aoki and Willy William’s “Mambo” (No. 41, this February).

‘Signals’ on signals: Shifting to the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, Regard and Kwabs hit the top 10 with “Signals” (12-7). The fourth top 10 for Regard and first for Kwabs is drawing core-dance airplay across outlets including MusicChoice’s Dance/EDM Channel, KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco and WZFL (Revolution 93.5) Miami. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on nearly 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)
