Cryptocurrency exchange FTX has partnered with Monumental Sports and Entertainment to become the official cryptocurrency exchange and NFT partner for its properties, which include the NBA‘s Washington Wizards, WNBA‘s Washington Mystics and the NHL‘s Washington Capitals, among others.
The multi-year deal gives the FTX US NFT platform exclusive rights to future NFT drops by Monumental Sports teams and broadens collaborative opportunities for cryptocurrencies in sports.
“The integration of blockchain technology with the sports experience has only just begun, and together we are going to advance to an entirely new frontier which will ignite fans beyond what they can even imagine today,” said Jim Van Stone, president, business operations and chief commercial officer at FTX US.
Last week, FTX US announced a similar deal with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors.
Over the last year, sports and crypto have continued to find new integrations, with Crypto.com partnering with the Philadelphia 76ers, NBA star Kevin Durant becoming the face of Coinbase, and Watford FC getting sponsorship from Dogecoin.
In other news, Under Armour dropped a sneaker NFT in honor of Steph Curry’s NBA 3-point record.
