The clip featured Styles amongst a group of revellers on the beach eating fruit while clad in an array of brightly coloured, vintage-printed swim and resort wear.
The video also featured an extensive collection of crochet, much of which was worn by Harry himself. Now, whether or not you like to believe in the power of ‘The Harry Styles Effect’ it seems the popularity of crochet has risen this exponentially this summer following the on-trend video. In fact, according to fashion search engine, Lyst, searches from crochet clothing have risen by 85% since July. While specific searches for crochet dresses and shorts have also seen an increase.
Evidently, Harry Styles is not the only one loving the retro-inspired trend, as crochet has also been championed by several members of the fashion set this season. From Lucy Williams to Bettina Looney and Chrissy Rutherford, the detailed design has become the style of choice for beachside holidays and summer staycations. Given our current obsession with all things nostalgia, we’re hardly surprised this seventies-inspired look is currently on our radar.
