Cristiano Ronaldo is used to breaking records on the football pitch, but now he can add yet another milestone to his list of accolades. The Manchester United superstar has become the first person to surpass 400 million Instagram followers.
The forward crossed the 400 million mark just a day after he celebrated his 37th birthday with his wife Georgina Rodriguez. As an accompanying caption to his post Ronaldo wrote, “Life is a roller coaster. Hard work, high speed, urgent goals, demanding expectations…But in the end, it all comes down to family, love, honesty, friendship, values that make it all worth it. Thanks for all the messages! 37 and counting!”
Following in Ronaldo’s footsteps as the most followed person on Instagram, Kylie Jenner comes in second with more than 308 million followers while fellow football legend Lionel Messi is in third with 306 million followers. At the ripe age of 37, Ronaldo does not appear to show any signs of stopping. In a previous interview he said, “Genetically I feel like I’m 30 years old. I take great care of my body and my mind. Something I’ve learned recently is that after 33, I believe the body can deliver if you need it, but the real battle is mental. I want to find out if I’m going to play until I’m 40, 41, or 42 but the most important thing is that my daily goal is to enjoy the moment.”
