Coldplay claim title for biggest rock tour of all time, per Billboard box office data

Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres Tour” has officially made history as the highest-grossing rock tour of all time.

According to Billboard, the tour has grossed $945.7 million and sold 8.8 million tickets since launching in March 2022. These numbers have surpassed the previous record holder, Sir Elton John, whose “Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour” grossed $939.1 million during its run from 2018 to 2023.

With 21 more shows still scheduled on their “Music of the Spheres Tour,” Coldplay is also on track to become the first rock band to achieve a billion-dollar-grossing tour and sell over 10 million tickets. You can find tickets to their upcoming shows here.

However, Coldplay is unlikely to surpass Taylor Swift, whose “The Eras Tour” currently holds the all-time record for the highest-grossing tour. That tour is projected to reach $2 billion in sales by the time it wraps up later this year.
