The last figure to chalk-up six-figures in a week was Ed Sheeran’s No. 6 Collaborations Project, which started with 125,000 in July 2019.

Pure sales accounted for 85% of Coldplay’s first week tally, a sum that included 12,400 on wax, enough to lead this week’s Official Vinyl Albums Chart.

With the strong opening, Coldplay’s collaboration with BTS, “My Universe,” races 15-5 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, while “Let Somebody Go” featuring Selena Gomez, opens at No. 24, and “Higher Power” reenters at 26.

Coldplay performed all three tracks live last week on CBS’ The Late Late Show With James Corden.

With the unbroken, career-spanning run of No. 1s, Coldplay tie with Brandon Flowers, who also has a streak of nine consecutive chart-toppers across The Killers and his solo efforts.

Noel Gallagher has amassed more, with 10.

Coldplay also tie with ABBA and Bob Dylan for acts with nine No. 1 titles on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

Coming in at No. 2 is The Beatles’ Let It Be (Apple Corps), which bursts into the top tier following the release of a new Super Deluxe Edition, in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

With Adele’s fourth album release drawing closer, the British singer’s catalog makes its move up the chart. Her most recent album 25 (XL Recordings) vaults 6-3, 21 lifts14-6 and 19 jumps 54-15.

Irish crooner Daniel O’Donnell bags his 19th Top 10 album with 60 (DMG TV), new at No. 4, an effort that extends his U.K. chart record as the first artist to have an album in the Official Albums Chart each year for the last 33 years.

South London singer and songwriter Joy Crookes completes the Top 5 with Skin (Insanity/Speakerbox Recordings), new at No. 5 for her first-ever U.K. chart appearance; while Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes appear at No. 8 with Sticky (International Death Cult), their third Top 10 entry.
