AUSTIN, Texas – Getting started on a healthy lifestyle can be a daunting process – the City of Austin is looking to help the community take that first step through Move Your Way®. Move Your Way® Day, which is being hosted by Austin Public Health (APH) and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD), is an opportunity to learn your health status and get a head start on enjoying a healthier, more active lifestyle.
Move Your Way® Day will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 3 – 6 p.m. at Colony Park District Park (7201 Colony Loop Dr, Austin, TX 78724). The free event will feature:
- Health screenings
- Guided walks led by Park Rangers
- Ideas to help you and your family be active
- Healthy snacks
- Music
- And more!
Increasing your physical activity helps more than just your heart and muscles – it can also help lift your mood, sharpen your focus and allow for better sleep. The Move Your Way® activity planner will be available at the event to help attendees set their goals and stay motivated long after the day itself. Those who are unable to attend the event can find a virtual activity planner here.
Move Your Way® Day is just one of many opportunities for members of the community to engage in a healthier lifestyle. APH’s Healthy Places Healthy People website offers information on healthy eating, getting active and diabetes awareness. PARD offers a number of Health Promotions, including Adult Fitness Programs, Meditative Moments and the Parks Prescription program.
