Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow Suffers Season Ending Injury

Joe Burrow‘s NFL season is officially over. In a lost to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist. The team called it an acute injury that likely occurred in the second quarter. Burrow’s four-yard touchdown pass was his final throw of 2023.

In a post-game interview, Burrow said, “It’s tough. You work so hard for seasons and moments like these. Whenever you get hurt and it ends early, it’s tough to handle. That’s a part of the game.” He added that he landed on his wrist after he was hit by Ravens defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. On the next play, he went down after he fired a touchdown pass. He said, “I felt a pop in the middle of the throw. I tried to give it a go but couldn’t get it done.”

The torn ligament in his wrist marks the second time Burrow has suffered a season-ending injury in his four-year careers. Backup quarterback Jake Browning will be the starter for the team’s forseeable future. It is unclear when Burrow will have surgery and when he can return.
