Chris Redd Is Leaving SNL

Chris Redd has announced that he is departing Saturday Night Live after five seasons in the cast, Variety reports. “Being a part of SNL has been the experience of a lifetime. Five years ago, I walked into 30 Rock knowing that this was an amazing opportunity for growth,” Redd said in a statement. “Now, with friends who have become family and memories I will cherish forever, I’m grateful to Lorne Michaels and to the entire ‘SNL’ organization. From the bottom of my heart, I can’t thank you all enough.”

Redd’s departure follows those of fellow cast members Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor, and Aristotle Athari. During his time on the show, Redd participated in numerous rap-themed musical sketches. Some of his impressions included President Barack Obama (aka Bruce Springsteen’s good friend), New York Mayor Eric Adams, Kanye West (attempting to avoid any Kardashians TV time), Lil Wayne (playing The Price Is Right), Soulja Boy (discussing the government shutdown), and Smokey Robinson (attempting to pronounce Chanukah correctly). He won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music & Lyrics for the SNL song with Chance the Rapper, “Come Back Barack.”
