Yoshihiro Togashi’s Yu Yu Hakusho 1990s manga series is coming to screens. Originally announced in 2020, Netflix has shared the first trailer for the live-action adaptation.
“Long ago, the human World and the demon world were connected,” a narrator says in a voiceover. “Yokai crept into the human world to prey on humans.”
Cut to paramedics failing to revive protagonist Yusuke Urameshi after he’s been hit by a car. While the event may have marked the end of his mortal life, it’s only the beginning of his journey as a Spirit Detective.
He’ll embark on rigorous training under his mentor, exercise his new magic powers and ultimately, take on the demons that have found their way into the human world.
While Yu Yu Hakusho has already been adapted into an anime, video game and film, fans are looking forward to the live-action version. The trailer also offers viewers a preview of what the demons from the manga will look erected in CGI.
