Just over a month remains before the Pokémon franchise steps into its 9th generation with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. In preparation of this, a 14-minute, detailed trailer has been released. One of many trailers that have been shared leading up to the games’ highly-anticipated release, we’re offered a closer look at some of the new and returning Pokémon alongside key gameplay mechanics.
Following last week’s reveal of Wiglett, the Garden Eel Pokémon inspired by Diglett, more new Pokémon have been shown off and hinted at. While several remain unnamed at this time, including what’s believed to be the pre-evolution of Armarouge, a spotlight was placed on Girafarig’s new evolution, Farigarif. The new giraffe-themed Pokémon maintains its predecessor’s Normal/Psychic typing while introducing two new abilities to the game.
Pivoting to gameplay, a device designed to create Technical Machines (TMs), a tool that allows Pokémon to learn new moves, has been introduced. Located at each Pokémon Center, TM Machines allow trainers to craft TMs with resources obtained via the story and wild Pokémon. These TMs are only usable once, however, an unlimited amount of each can be crafted. A closer look at previously revealed activities such as Tera Raid Battles is included alongside a presentation of Pokémon picnics. Gathering around with your party Pokémon and the legendary Pokémon that accompanies you, you can make food, take photos, clean your Pokémon and possibly find a Pokémon Egg in the process.
Check out the trailer above as Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s release date of November 18 on the Nintendo Switch is just around the corner. Both games are available for pre-order now via Nintendo and retailers at a price of $60 USD.
In other gaming news, CD Projekt Red has revealed plans for its upcoming games, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
