In the golf world playing with blades, or muscleback, irons is considered to be a telltale sign of a skilled player. Of course, anyone can purchase them, but only the most practiced ball strikers have the ability to actually make use of their superior shot shaping and consistent trajectory. And when it comes to making blade irons, few companies are as revered as Miura Golf.
Since 1957, every set of irons that has left the famous factory in Himeji, Japan has been brought to life by master craftsman Katsuhiro Miura, also known as Miura-San. When professional golfer Adam Scott decided to forgo having a club sponsor and become an equipment free agent in 2022, he turned to Miura. The two began collaborating on a custom set that went into Scott’s bag at the 2022 Memorial Tournament, called the AS-1 irons.
Now less than a year later, Adam Scott and Miura Golf have revealed the latest version of the AS-1s. But unlike last time, these irons are available for purchase at retail, meaning you can get your hands on clubs with the exact specifications of the 35th ranked golfer in the world. The timing of the release is also telling, as next week’s Masters Tournament will be the 10th anniversary of Scott’s first and only major championship victory.
Look for Scott to be gaming these irons in Augusta, which are constructed from premium S20 soft carbon steel and coated with a satin chrome finish. Each iron is stamped with a red “hanko” emblem — Miura-San’s sign of approval — and the entire set is housed in a commemorative box inspired by the blue aprons worn by Miura craftsmen. If you’re hoping to grab a set, act fast, as the 3-PW sets are available now in limited quantities on Miura Golf’s website for $3750 USD.
