Charli XCX has released the new song “Hot Girl.” She made the song with the 1975’s George Daniel for A24’s upcoming murder mystery film Bodies Bodies Bodies. Listen to the track below.
“Hot Girl” is the result of the Bodies Bodies Bodies team inviting Charli XCX to create a theme song for the film. It’s intended to capture the spirit of its protagonists: a group of rich 20-somethings who host a party at a remote family mansion, but things don’t go as planned when someone ends up dead. Starring Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pace, and Pete Davidson, Bodies Bodies Bodies hits U.S. theaters nationwide on August 12.
Crash, Charli XCX’s fifth studio album and the follow-up to 2020’s How I’m Feeling Now, came out this past March. It includes collaborations with Rina Sawayama (“Beg for You”), as well as Caroline Polachek and Christine and the Queens (“New Shapes”). Charli XCX dropped a deluxe edition of the record shortly after its initial release.
In recent months, Charli XCX teamed up with Tiësto for the single “Hot in It,” played a metaverse concert on the Roblox platform, and was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live where she sang “Beg for You” and “Baby” live. She also appeared in a new Rodarte fashion campaign, alongside Kathleen Hanna, Snail Mail, and the Linda Lindas.
Charli XCX is currently in the middle of an extensive tour of North America and Europe in support of Crash. It kicked off at the start of spring and now finds her at the start of her second leg, with festival sets at Lollapalooza and All Points East still to come.
