Tapped by A24 to produce a track for its upcoming murder-mystery film Bodies Bodies Bodies, Charli XCX has dropped off a new single, titled “Hot Girl.” Notably, the cut was created in collaboration with The 1975‘s George Daniel.
The track is intended to be the theme song for the slasher entry, which follows a group of rich, nihilistic 20-somethings who throw a deathly party at a remote mansion. The film, directed by Halina Reijn, stars Pete Davidson, Maria Bakalova, Amandla Stenberg, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, and Lee Pace. Bodies Bodies Bodies first premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival 2022 and will hit theaters on August 5.
“Hot Girl” follows Charli’s last full-length effort, CRASH, which was released in March. The 12-track record, which marked her fifth studio album, features contributions from Caroline Polachek, Christine and the Queens and Rina Sawayama, along with additional collaborative work from A. G. Cook, George Daniel, Deaton Chris Anthony, Lotus IV, Oscar Holter, Digital Farm Animals, Ian Kirkpatrik, Jason Evigan, Justin Raisen, Ariel Rechtshaid, Ilya, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jon Shave and Mike Wise.
