Charlamagne Tha God Shares His Criticism of Kanye West’s ‘DONDA’ Album

Charlamagne Tha God Shares His Criticism of Kanye West’s ‘DONDA’ Album

Charlamagne Tha God has never been one to shy away from expressing his true thoughts on a matter. After the much-anticipated release of Kanye West‘s DONDA, Charlamagne was sure to make his opinion known.

Earlier this week, Charlamagne spoke to DJ Envy and Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club and offered his two cents on the new record. Envy admitted that he has yet to listen to it and does not plan to because of Kanye’s attitude as of late. He also went as far as calling him a “clown,” to which Charlamagne immediately gave his input. Though he liked some of the tracks, he said that the album as a whole did not entirely sit well with him.

Charlamagne shared, “Upon first listen, it was lackluster for me.” He and Yee both agreed that “Jesus Lord, Pt. 2” featuring Jay Electronica and The LOX was the best son in the album. He commented on the length of the album stating, “But it’s an hour and 48 minutes long, so like Kanye West it can be very exhausting. I like the joint with Westside and Kanye, I like “Jesus Lord” with THE LOX and Jay Electronica…I think if he just scaled the project down, to like 12-13 records, it could be a great album. But 28 songs with all the part twos, an hour and 48 minutes, it’s too long and it drags to me. And the music sounds kinda dated, man.”

Envy also agreed and asked the other co-hosts who they thought wrote the album. Everyone seemed to be on the same page and thought that it was put together by a “committee” of collaborators. Charlamagne does not appear to be the only one disappointed by the album. Soulja Boy recently came out criticizing the album too. Listen above for the full conversation.

In other Kanye-related news, Fivio Foreign has claimed that West is collaborating with him on his new album.
