Chance the Rapper and Joey Purp have a solid bank of collab tracks behind them, including “Girls @” and “My Own Thing.” The duo has linked back up once again in the studio – as well as the streets and seas of Chicago on the S.S. Star Line – to drop off “Bad Boys 2,” a nod to Will Smith and Martin Lawrence‘s Bad Boys film franchise.
Chance and Purp’s chemistry hasn’t faded a bit, with Purp handling the first verse and Chance the second. “All my favorite hoodies at a bad b*tch condo / But I know this Nina got my back like I’m Rondo,” Chance opens his verse. “Sittin’ on my lap, while I’m slidin’ through Chicago / Now we drive the boat, but when we came here, we was cargo.”
For the visual, the two head out to Chicago to deliver the bars underneath the sunlight from sports car and ships.
“Bad Boys 2” arrives after Chance hopped on Instagram Live to share some thoughts on his forthcoming Star Line Gallery LP.
“Stop calling it ‘the album.’ And I don’t mean that in an ungrateful way,” he began. “I’m grateful that people are putting in my comments, ‘Drop the album’. I’m not going to drop the album until y’all start calling it Star Line. I hope that y’all understand that. I understand how all this stuff works. ‘Drop the album.’ That’s for all the other artists. That’s for all everybody else, whose work I also appreciate. But what I’m doing is something different. It’s something very specific. It’s called Star Line.”
