2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 Retro Review: Last of the Mezgers

In honor of Hans Mezger’s life, we’re republishing our June 2011 first drive of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0—the model that bid adieu to the famed Mezger engine in Porsche’s road-going cars.  Porsche churns out so many run-out editions of the 911 that collectors must be feeling pretty gouged by now. There’s the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, the 911 Black Edition Cabriolet, the 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder—the list goes on. Seems like every combination of spec and paint becomes a model in its own right. We are just waiting for a narrow-body rear-wheel-drive Turbo Targa Orange Stripe edition. Instead, along comes the real deal. Not just the last 997-series 911, but the ultimate RS, and the roadgoing swan song for the magnificent Mezger flat-six. The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 . . . now...

This Big Book Is All About Micro Machines

Millennial car nuts are right in their sweet spot for vehicle nostalgia, and for many of said nuts, Micro Machines were the toy of choice for a few years. The fast-talking pitchman made the tiny cars, trucks, and planes stand out from the larger Hot Wheels and Matchbox toys. As those have become collectible, spawning renewed interest (and, yes, even full-size, drivable recreations like you can see in our MotorTrend App show Hot Wheels Life Size), it was maybe inevitable that Micro Machines would get their second day in the sun. That time seems to be now. This big, glossy book from Bitmap is called “Micro But Many: An Unofficial Micro Machines Collection.” As you can tell from the title, it’s a work that’s not authorized by current owner Hasbro, nor is it related to ...

I Spent an Hour With VB’s Brow Expert—Here’s Everything I Learned

After the PR for Anastasia Beverly Hills gave me the heads-up earlier this year that Soare would be coming to the UK, I took the bold decision to stop shaping my eyebrows entirely. (As someone with seriously unruly brow hairs, this was a big step.) Luckily, though, this meant I was able to get some genuine brow advice when I did catch up with Anastasia. Plus, I asked Who What Wear readers for any burning brow questions in our Facebook group (So… Should I Buy This?), which Soare was only too happy to answer. Keep scrolling for the five things I learned from VB’s brow expert, Anastasia Soare. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. The Homeware I Buy From This High-Street Store Always Looks Expensive

From minimalist toothbrush holders (yes, I know) to linen table cloths that look like they’re £50 a pop (when they’re really less than a fiver) to minimal dressing gowns in pure linen as well as vintage-style vases that will enhance any bedroom or living room and even furniture that looks artisan, there are so many pieces you’ll want from the current collection. I decided to go through the latest drop and picked out the items I know you’ll want for the home. Keep scrolling to see what they are. I challenge you not to buy them. I Just Asked 6 Makeup Artists How to Get Your Makeup to Stay Put in the Heat

When it comes to makeup, I’m a summer person. I like bronzed, glowing skin; plumped, glossy lips; big, feathered brows and pretty, shimmering eye looks. If you ask me, the glowing and glistening makeup looks of summer are far more enticing than the deeper, darker and more matte finishes that we tend to opt for during colder months.  However, there is one issue that I have with summer makeup, and it’s quite a large one. It seems that no matter what I do, my makeup just won’t stay put. I could spend hours creating the perfect glowing base, and within 10 minutes of stepping outside into the heat, I’ve sweated it off. This year, however, because there are just too many new product launches and pretty inspiration pics that I want to try for myself, I’m determined to get...

Hands Down, This Is the Best High-Street Store for Sandals This Summer

I love it when items of clothing really last. And I don’t just mean in terms of trends, although that is helpful, but durability too. One pair of sandals that I’ve worn repeatedly over the past four summers is a pair of black block-heel sandals from & Other Stories. They’re classic, not too high and go with everything from jeans to midi dresses. They’re the kind of shoes I can easily wear in the office, as they’re not too high to walk around in, but they’ve also seen me through quite a few weddings. This season, & Other Stories has had a great drop of footwear that is ideal for this summer and the next few years to come. The high-street store often combines current trends with classic styles, so whenever you buy from this shop, I always think you’re getting more...

2011-2019 Ford Mustang Manual Transmissions Are Defective, Lawsuit Alleges

Automotive News reports that a group of owners of 2011 and newer Ford Mustangs is suing the company over alleged defects in the sports car’s Getrag MT82 six-speed manual transmission. The suit alleges that Ford knows of the issue but has not taken adequate steps to prevent it, despite a series of technical service bulletins (TSBs) and other guidance to dealerships about various transmission problems. The TSBs address a number of issues, all related to shift quality: Grinding, higher-than-expected shift effort, delayed clutch re-engagement, and notchiness. A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigation found there was no safety risk associated with the issues, and Ford provided a few fixes that are claimed to address these complaints. You can check out the NHTS...

What Else Does David Freiburger have in His Garage!?

David Freiburger has been a busy (rumble) bee while working from home, and he’s uncovered even more automotive treasures. 25 Chic Stationery Pieces I’m Sure Will Increase My Productivity

A snack. A cup of tea. Another glass of water. A quick check of Instagram. A WhatsApp to your friends of that funny video you saw of some woman making tea badly. Let’s be honest. These are just a few things that could be distracting when working from home. It is tough to remain productive, especially as we’re now many days into our routine of mostly staying in the house. So it’s time to pull out the big guns. And that means buying new stationery. I’m a firm believer in making sure you have your surroundings in check before you start working (I have to work with a tidy desk), and a great pen and a nice notepad are just part of that. Of course, stationery is so much more. There are the sticky notes, pencil cases, stamps, file holders, pencil pots, etc. I cou...

Every Time I Wear This One Necklace, I Get Dozens of Messages on Instagram

Ever have an item of clothing that people can’t stop asking you where it’s from? That piece for me right now is a vintage gold chain I bought from eBay for a tenner. Every time I wear it, I get dozens of messages on Instagram about it (because the only place you’ll really see an outfit right now is on Instagram). For a fashion editor, I have a moderate following on the platform; it’s nearing the 2K mark, but it’s not huge, especially in comparison to a lot of other peers and colleagues. This isn’t to make you feel pity for my lack of social media fans, but rather to highlight that my reach isn’t massive, yet followers message me about this necklace more than anything else.  For a bit of background on this piece of jewe...
