2020 Polaris Slingshot R First Drive

Everything about the Polaris Slingshot invites a reaction. What it is, what it looks like, who buys one, and how they accessorize it all produce hot takes made for a Twitter world. It’s fitting, then, that I finally found the words to describe my feelings about the Slingshot on Twitter. Author, journalist, and photographer Linda Tirado shared a piece of advice. She was talking about something much more important than a car review, but the great thing about wisdom is you can apply it to all sorts of situations. “Know who you want to be and then you never have to decide how to live,” she wrote. That’s the Slingshot. It defies categorization except unto itself. It knows exactly what it wants to be. Where some look at it and find confusion, driving it clarifies. It exis...

Genesis G70 Long-Term Update: And on the Seventh Day, He Drifted

When I was given the keys to the Genesis G70 3.3T for a recent Top Gear America filming stint, I was extremely excited. We don’t get Genesis the marque in the U.K. or Europe (though there are plans to launch in 2020), and I always think they look great zipping around California. I’m also a big fan of the characterful and hilariously oversteery Kia Stinger. Surely a smaller, lighter, and more agile Stinger with a higher-quality interior would be something pretty special? My week with the G70 took in plenty of freeways, a blast up into the Angeles Forest area for filming, and a few laps of Streets of Willow. Sorry about the slightly noisy brakes, I’m sure they’ll settle down. Probably. For the most part the G70 lived up to expectations. It’s quick, nicely balanc...

Finally, a Sustainable Fashion Brand That’s Also Affordable

Introduce our readers to your brand. When did you start it, and why? I’m Natasha, and I’m the woman behind Roop, which is also my nickname, I started making the bags last September while I was off work with a bad back (it’s a glamorous story). I was inspired by a shoe strap I saw on Instagram and the beautiful art of furoshiki. Roop is a beautiful mix of everything I love! How has social distancing and stay at home orders affected your business? How have your priorities shifted? I feel guilty saying this, but it kind of made Roop into what it is today. Firstly, it gave me the time to focus on and execute what I wanted to do with the business, and secondly, the rise in support for small businesses put me in front of more people. Lastly, my brand is happy, colourf...

10 Influencer-Approved Skirts That Might Make You Rethink Your Love of Dresses

While some may say summer is the season of the dress, I personally define myself as a skirt enthusiast. Endlessly versatile, skirts are an item that can be elevated enough for just about any occasion and also dressed down for more casual affairs. As an example, the checked slip skirt I wore to a wedding alongside a slinky silk cami last year is now the same skirt I wear to picnics on weekends alongside a plain white tee and Stan Smith sneakers.  To further prove my point that skirts are in fact, an unsung wardrobe hero, I’ve taken the liberty of tracking down a few summery iterations that come with influencer-approval. From buzzy brands like Ganni, Sir and Musier Paris to high-street favourites like H&M and ASOS, this season we’ve seen a plethora of chic skir...

How to Remove Gel Polish at Home Without Ruining Your Nails for Good

Trust us—we know the feeling all too well. You’ve had a gel manicure, your colourful nails look amazing for two to three weeks and you’re on top of the world. But then you notice that they’re catching a little when you wash your hair. Later, while washing up, you spot that the edges are starting to lift. You start inspecting. First, you just pick a tiny corner to try and minimise the damage, but then the high of the peel takes over and 20 minutes later you’re crying into a pile of gel flakes with nails that resemble shredded tissue paper.  The truth is, at-home nail upkeep is actually quite tough. Without an expert there to guide you through things step-by-step, it’s all too easy to make a wrong turn, especially when it comes to gels. Nail Expert at OPI, Belinda Price explai...

The 2021 Hyundai Elantra N Line Looks Freaking Good in New Teaser

Hyundai is set to replace the previous Elantra Sport with the new Elantra N Line, and now we finally have an idea of what the sporty sedan will look like. Although we’ll have to wait until Hyundai releases the final product, these teaser images hint at a much more aggressive-looking Elantra model. At its front, the Hyundai Elantra N Line boasts a modified grille design with subtle badging. The biggest change, though, is the bold new air intakes. The side profile, meanwhile, is accented by special window accents, door mirrors, and side skirts painted gloss black. In the rear, you’ll find a set of twin exhaust pipes—a feature that’s unique to the model. Finishing off the look are 18-inch alloy wheels covering a set of beefier brakes. If You’re Not Into Nail Art, These Minimal Looks Will Change Your Mind

When it comes to my nails, I always play it safe. I have two colourways of choice and I’ve not dabbled in any nail art. Call me boring but I’m a minimalist at heart. However, there’s only so much baking I can do, so in an effort to find a new lockdown hobby, I’ve been dabbling in minimal nail art.  I thought I’d start off slow by baby-stepping my way into the world of nail artistry. Not too sure if I should call it artistry at this point, but I tried. I also wanted some new styles to cut out and keep for when I book in for my post-lockdown manicure. Sometimes, it’s best to leave it to the professionals. If you’re like me and have an aversion to wild styles gracing your fingernails, then keep scrolling for all the minimal nail art ins...

I Just Tried 45 Eyeliners—These Are the Ones I’d Actually Recommend

I came, I saw and I conquered the eyeliner battlefield. I even left with some new ones to add to my product rotation. Now, that’s a big feat. I’m a Sagittarius—we like what we like, and when we find something we like, we keep it around. That said, I was pretty sure that I wouldn’t be able to find anything to compete with my beloved Kat Von D. It’s still in my top picks, but it’s now joined by It Cosmetics and Fenty Beauty. A special mention also goes to Surratt, which has become my go-to for when I need to look and feel like an absolute goddess. I tried the rollerball/mini pizza cutter–style eyeliners too, and trust me—they’re more style over substance. They’re a nightmare to fill in, even if they do give you a good flick. So if you’re really...

Princess Diana’s Favourite Shirt Style Is Trending This Summer

A mainstay of the ’80s wardrobe, the ruffle-collar blouse graced many a Princess Di outfit, combining her Sloane Ranger chic with nods to trends of the day. Whether it was with pinstripe trousers or a midi skirt, the royal both demonstrated the versatility of the style and cemented its place in the fashion halls of fame.  With 2019’s fascination with covered-up silhouettes, it’s no surprise that the pie crust collar is seeing a resurgence in this year. Fashion folk have been styling theirs with high-waisted jeans and boots for an authentically throwback look. Also, Alexa Chung has long been a fan of the ruffle, and if that’s not a reason to try it, then we don’t know what is. Scroll down to see and shop our favourit...

6 Trending Arket Items That Come With The Influencer Tick Of Approval

As far as high-street labels go, there are few brands that have as many fashionable fans as Arket. Relied upon for classic styles and minimalist staples, the brand’s offering feels extremely elevated which is likely why so many influencers and editors turn to Arket for affordable closet essentials.  Recently we’ve been keeping a running tally of all the chic Arket staples the style set has been loving and from maxi dresses to sleeveless shirts, there are more than a few pieces on the brand’s website that have been given the influencer tick-of-approval.  Alexis Foreman is an advocate of the brand’s Cotton Voile Slip Dress, while Marisa Martins owns a few Arket button-down shirts, not to mention several different influencers have been seen sporting the brand...
