8 Summer Outfits to See You Through This Week’s Heatwave

Having been born and raised in sunny Australia, I like to think I know a thing or two about how to dress for warm weather. While the current forecast in the UK is deemed a heatwave, for us Aussies, it’s just another summer day. Therefore, I thought I would take some time to share my knowledge of how exactly to dress when the mercury rises.  From denim shorts to flowing maxis, there’s no one formula when it comes to dressing for warm weather. At the end of the day, it’s all about what makes you feel cool and comfortable, as both factors become a top priority in these times. Personally, I often rely on breathable fabrics and fluid silhouettes, and as evidenced below, many members of the fashion set tend to do the same. In fact, between the linen shirts, swimwear as daywear ...

I Love Vintage Sportswear—Here’s How to Find the Best Bits

I could lie and say that my obsession with sportswear, and it is an obsession, has been ignited due to the pandemic and 2020’s nostalgia-fest, but it’s not. I went to a school in Sheffield where I could wear anything I wanted, and during the late ’90s, Adidas trousers, Kappa jackets and Calvin Klein jumpers were daily wardrobe staples. It didn’t matter the gender—anyone could wear these items—and I loved that because it took the pressure off trying to feel “sassy.” You got immediate cool points for wearing three stripes. But it’s more than that. During that time, Britpop pin-ups Damon Albarn and Liam Gallagher both were regularly spotted wearing Reebok and Adidas T-shirts. AllSaints, the coolest girl group of the ’90s (don’t @ me), wore...

A Look Back at Lincoln’s Rich History of Great Coach-Built Cars

During the rollout of the 2020 Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition Coach Door Edition, the press has fallen all over itself comparing the car to the midcentury modern JFK “suicide-door” fourth-gen Continentals. But 334,345 of those cars were mass-produced by Lincoln in Wixom, Michigan. No, the modern Continental Coach Door Edition deserves to be compared with classic Lincolns dating back to the earliest days of the brand. Did you know in that era Lincoln offered more custom bodies in its catalog than any other American manufacturer? Ugly cars designed by Henry Leland’s milliner brother-in-law, Angus Woodbridge, were killing his nascent brand. (Ladies hats are very different from cars; who knew?) So as soon as Henry Ford bought Lincoln and ousted the Lelands, his design-oriented son Edse...

Infiniti Teases Its 2022 QX55’s FX-Like Rear End Behind Some Guy’s Head

Let’s hope the 2022 Infiniti QX55 is better than this teaser image the Japanese luxury brand released of the upcoming crossover SUV. Because if this picture is representative of the project management that went into developing the QX55, then we have low expectations for Infiniti’s swoopy sibling to the QX50 compact crossover. Don’t get us wrong. We get this teaser is designed to preview the newest member of the Infiniti model line without giving everything away. But why did Infiniti decide to put a portion of a person in the image, as well? Is there a larger story to tell about this individual? What role does this person play in the QX55’s debut? We don’t know, and frankly, it leaves us with more questions than answers. Admittedly, we like what little we see of the model in this teas...

Texas Man, Like Florida Man Before Him, Uses PPP Loan Money on Lamborghini

No offense to the state of Florida, but it’s typically a good idea to avoid following in its male citizens’ footsteps. Or, at least, to never appear in a sentence like the title of this story. That’s because it can be assumed that any news item that begins “Florida Man…” involves some kind of brazen, insane, or otherwise non-model behavior. Take one Florida Man from last month, who used fraudulently obtained Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan money intended for coronavirus business relief to purchase himself a Lamborghini Huracán. Well, one Lamborghini-lovin’ Texas Man just couldn’t help himself. While it’d be funny to write that the Texas Man at the center of a new Justice Department criminal complaint said something like “ho...

Even Watching a Street Race in Atlanta Could Net You a Huge Fine

Street racing is nothing new, but it may have found an opening of late. As we’ve reported previously, while the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has kept most people inside and cars off the roads, and according to some local news outlets, speeders and street racers have been taking advantage of those extra-empty streets—Atlantans included. They’ve been holding street races and road takeovers with hundreds of spectators, sometimes multiple nights in a row. Authorities are summoning a response. In an effort to crack down on street racing—and, more specifically, the massive crowds these events tend to attract—the Atlanta City Council recently approved legislation that punishes bystanders, in addition to racing participants. We all know you can be sent to jail and have your license suspen...

Rihanna Flaunts This Powerful Fruity Ingredient in Fenty Skin Products During Her Nighttime Routine

Rihanna’s answer to her soft, supple skin? The products from her brand new Fenty Skin line, of course! After being featured on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Tuesday (Aug. 4), the Bajan singer-turned-skincare mogul filmed a tutorial on how to use her highly coveted Fenty Skin products she launched last Friday (July 31) for the magazine’s “Go To Bed With Me” video series. RiRi’s best skincare tips and tricks include hydration, from drinking water to using her What It Dew Makeup Refreshing Spray, and a healthy diet. The 32-year-old pop star praised her Barbados roots and the island’s exotic fruits that she implemented as ingredients in her line of products, including her personal favorite the Barbados cherry, which she refers to as the “Bajan che...

These 8 Gucci Items Will Always Be Iconic

When it comes to luxury fashion Gucci has always been at the top. Alongside the other stalwarts of the fashion industry—Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton et al—the Italian fashion house has remained popular. Founded in 1921, this 99-year-old brand is arguably the biggest its ever been. True, Tom Ford’s tenure shouldn’t be discounted (he gave the brand real sass during the ’90s), but since Alessandro Michele took over the helm of creative director in 2015, Gucci has completely transformed. Despite only being appointed head honcho half a decade ago, in the past five years, thanks to Michele, the brand has become the most popular, and most profitable, in the Kering family, which also owns Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. There’s no denying the eff...

From the Lob to the Shag, These 32 Celebs Look Amazing With Mid-Length Hair

From pixie crops and blunt bobs to beach waves and long ponytails, there’s plenty of hair inspiration out there right now that has me veering between wanting to chop all my hair off and growing it out long on a daily basis. However, obsessing over the two extremes has meant I’ve been totally overlooking how stylish mid-length hair can look. In fact, the lob (a longer-length bob) might just be the perfect compromise between long and short hair. “The lob is a classic. It works with so many different hair types and face shapes, hence its popularity,” explained Krysia Eddery, expert hairstylist and owner of Aveda concept salon, Perfectly Posh. “The mid-length is really quite forgiving—there aren’t many face shapes that it won’t sit well with.” An...

6 Outfit Ideas That Will Make a White T-Shirt Seem Anything But Boring

I am nothing if not a creature of habit. When we were still in the office, I’d get the same Pret sandwich almost every day, alongside the same coffee order I’ve maintained since my late teens. To date, I’ve owned a total of five pairs of Stan Smith sneakers, as each time I wear one out, instead of opting for a new shoe style, I just buy the same design over again. Though the number one trait that epitomises my habitual nature is almost certainly my affinity for plain white T-shirts. To hazard a guess, I’d say a white tee is incorporated into my outfit at least three to four times a week, whether paired with a printed skirt, denim shorts or under a slip dress.  Historically, the item may have been considered boring, though I think it is incredibly underrated, particu...

This 36K-Mile 1976 AMC Hornet Sportabout Is Preserved Malaise-Era “Luxury”

Sometimes you’re looking for a time capsule, not a track time. If you’re longing to spend some time in a bygone era, there’s not a lot that encapsulates the mid-1970s quite like an AMC product. And this Hornet Sportabout is basically a leisure suit dripping with disco sweat, sporting a Jimmy Carter campaign button and ready to dig into an open-face meatloaf and mashed-potato sandwich. Unlike many trends from an oft-mocked decade, however, this AMC (being offered up over at Hemmings Auctions) looks like it’ll endure. There are just 36,000 miles on the clock, and that’s barely broken in for the 258-cubic-inch inline-six, as it’s an engine with a legendary reputation for longevity if not outright power. The “deluxe” interior is described as like-new and looks it, although its vast plast...

Surprise! The Mazda MX-30 Will Launch As a Hybrid, Not an EV

Mazda has fallen behind in the race to bring electric vehicles to market, but last year at the Tokyo Motor Show the Japanese automaker finally revealed its first-ever EV, the MX-30. Production of the sleek electric crossover was said to begin in 2020, but it looks like that timing might have been pushed back. Instead, the MX-30 is launching with a hybrid variant in Japan this fall. Described as a mild hybrid, the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv-G utilizes a direct-injected 2.0-liter gas engine paired with an “M Hybrid” electric motor that assists the four-cylinder when needed. Mazda says the MX-30 hybrid is part of a strategy to offer optimum powertrain options to serve a given region’s wants and needs. As we previously reported, the Mazda MX-30 EV will launch in Europe first to m...
