Report shares four questions EPL lawyers want PIF to answer before approving NUFC takeover

According to The Sun, the English Premier League’s legal team have tabled a series of questions for Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to answer before a decision is made on their Newcastle United £300 million takeover bid. Passing the top-flight’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test is the only hurdle currently stopping the PIF from owning the St. James’ Park outfit, and they have been asked about the piracy claims linking them with beoutQ. Qatar’s beIN Sport insists that Saudi is behind the pirate satellite station, estimating it has cost them one billion US dollars in lost subscriptions, lost advertising revenue, legal fees and technical reports. The Premier League also have concerns over the Saudis human rights records and have asked about their role in the murder of dissident journalist Ja...

Chris Sutton’s four-word reaction as Edouard is named Celtic POTY

French striker Odsonne Edouard has been named as the Celtic Player of the Year for 2019-20 following an impressive individual campaign. The 22-year-old ended the season with 28 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, beating Fraser Forster, Christopher Jullien, Scott Brown, Ryan Christie, Kristoffer Ajer, Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Olivier Ntcham and Jeremie Frimpong to the prize. Edouard’s impressive campaign has caught the eyes of several Premier League clubs, but Celtic are hoping they can have him around for next season’s 10-in-a-row bid following the huge role he played in helping them land a ninth consecutive Scottish Premiership title. Hoops legend Chris Sutton has reacted to the Frenchman emerging as Celtic POTY thus on Twitter: No surprise… outstanding player&#x...

Report: Everton favourites to sign €25m-rated target, Toffees readying a bid for player

Everton remain interested in signing the French defender Jean-Clair Todibo. According to Sport (via Sportwitness), Barcelona want to sell the player this month and the Toffees are preparing an offer of around €20-22m plus variables. Apparently, the Spanish outfit are holding out for a fee of around €25m. In that case, an agreement should be reached soon. It seems unlikely that the move would collapse over a difference of €3-5m. The report adds that Everton are favourites to sign the player this summer. Everton could definitely use more defensive depth next season and Todibo is a top class talent. He has impressed during his loan spell at Schalke this season. The Frenchman is unlikely to get first team action at Barcelona next season and therefore a move to Everton would make sense. He need...

Report: Wolves looking to sign 28-yr-old attacker, talks already underway

Wolves are interested in signing the Espanyol forward Wu Lei. According to Marca, the player will be out of contract in December and the Premier League club are already in talks to sign him. It will be interesting to see if Lei joins them in the summer. Alternatively, he could wait until he is a free agent. Either way, Wolves are unlikely to have to spend a lot on him. The 28-year-old will add depth to Nuno’s side next season if Wolves manage to sign him this summer. He can play as the forward or in the wide areas. The Chinese international has four goals to his name this season. Lei is a good finisher and he could be the back up for Jimenez/Jota when needed. Wolves need to add more depth to their squad if they want to challenge for Champions League football. Also, they will need a bigger ...

Report claims when Premier League verdict on Newcastle takeover could finally be delivered

According to The Sun, the English Premier League won’t deliver a verdict on Newcastle United £300 million takeover until after the formal publication of the World Trade Organization of Qatar’s allegations of intellectual property breaches against Saudi Arabia. That is due in the next fortnight, and Newcastle fans will have to wait for at least two more weeks to know their fate as the saga continues. The WTO has ruled that the Kingdom is indeed behind beoutQ – a pirate pay-television broadcaster that simulcasts the programming of Qatar-based broadcaster beIN Sports – and has already submitted a 123-page report to the Premier League. The EPL legal team have continued to peruse the report, and its why the would-be Magpies owners are yet to pass the Owners’ and Directors’ Test. They have also ...

‘Won’t be much longer’ – Sky Sports reporter responds to Newcastle fan on takeover

Newcastle United fans are really starting to get exhausted as Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund’s £300 million takeover saga drags on into the third month. The Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test is taking longer than expected, with Saudi’s alleged piracy of sporting events via satellite station beoutQ further complicating things. PCP Capital Partners’ Amanda Staveley – currently fronting the bid – is now occupied with a £1.6 billion legal battle with Barclays, and while that isn’t expected to have any effect on the takeover, it isn’t ideal given that the court case will take a lot of her time. Magpies fans want to know if the takeover is still on the cards, and the reply of Sky Sports’ Pete Graves when one asked him about it on Twitter should excite them: Equally exhausted bu...

Report: Potential Newcastle owners want 2 or 3 marquee signings, 116-cap int’l one of them

Newcastle remain keen on signing Edinson Cavani this summer. The 116-cap Uruguayan international is expected to leave the club soon with his contract due to expire. As per FcInterNews, the Magpies are the only club interested in the striker right now. Apparently, their prospective owners are keen on bringing in two or three marquee signings and Cavani is one of them. There is no doubt that the PSG forward is a proven goalscorer. He has proven his quality in France and in Italy before that. If Newcastle can offer him a lucrative deal, there is no reason why the deal couldn’t happen. Cavani is 33 and he will be looking for his last big payout. Newcastle could be that option for him. Similarly, Newcastle want a big name striker who will solve their goalscoring problems. Cavani is most definit...

‘Unbelievable business’ – James Maddison gives his verdict on the transfer Leicester pulled off in 2018

Leicester City signed Jonny Evans in the summer of 2018 for a fee of around £3.5m. The former Manchester United defender has prove to be a great success at the King Power Stadium since then. Yesterday, the club’s official account tweeted a photo of the day Evans joined the club. While several fans responded with tweets claiming it was a massive bargain and one of their best signings in the recent years, Leicester star James Maddison gave his verdict on the transfer as well. The talented attacking midfielder described Evans’ move to Leicester City in 2018 with just two words. His tweet read: ‘Unbelievable business’. Unbelievable business👏🏼 https://t.co/SdHpgjeqY9 — James Maddison (@Madders10) June 8, 2020 Looking back at it now, the transfer truly was unbelievable. Evans has...

Report: Jose Mourinho has made a decision regarding 27-yr-old Tottenham target

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho. The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at Barcelona and he needs a fresh start. He has been linked with a return to the Premier League. The former Liverpool star played his best football in England and a return to his comfort zone might be the best option for him right now. Spurs were keen on the player but Jose Mourinho has now decided that he is too expensive for the Londoners as per Mundo Deportivo (via Daily Mirror). Spurs have a limited budget this summer and they cannot afford to splash out on the Brazilian. The Premier League side have faced huge losses because of the current health crisis. Coutinho will have to find another suitor now. The attacking midfielder needs to join a club where the man...

Club chief comments on Mourinho target, Spurs fans react: ‘Perfect signing’, ‘No brainer’, ‘Get him’

Southampton chief Martin Semmens has confirmed that if a club is willing to meet their demands for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, they will sanction a sale. He said recently: “Let’s be clear about Pierre, he’s been absolutely upfront with us and everybody publicly that he sees himself at the very highest level of football. He wants to win the league, he wants to win the Champions League either with us or somebody else and at some point he’s going to either have to drive us to that level or move somewhere else to do it. “If there’s a club out there that can win the Champions League and they think Pierre can improve their team, if they can pay for him then in the end we have to let him go.” The 24-year-old has just one year left on his current deal and he has been linked with a move to Tottenha...

‘Not ideal’ – George Caulkin shares if Amanda Staveley’s court case affects NUFC takeover

PCP Capital Partners owner and finance broker Amanda Staveley is set to start a £1.6 billion legal battle with Barclays this week, and it has been claimed that she would have to put Newcastle United’s £300 million takeover bid aside. She is set to appear in court today, and while it’s not known if that will have any effect on the bid she is currently fronting, The Athletic’s George Caulkin believes that the fact that the legal battle will take a lot of her time isn’t ideal. Nevertheless, the journalist reckons it isn’t likely to have any disruption on Newcastle takeover as it is completely left to the Premier League to give the green light once they are ready. He explained it all in this tweet: It is in some senses, yes. Staveley has a big case with Barclays coming up and that has to take ...

Report: Bayern Munich looking to beat Celtic to signature of defender

According to the Daily Mail (via The Scottish Sun), Bayern Munich want Hearts left-back Aaron Hickey and are hoping to beat Celtic to his signature when the summer transfer window opens. The 17-year-old is a wanted man in Europe, with English Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Manchester City and Southampton keen, while Lazio and AC Milan are also keeping tabs on him. Hickey only left Celtic in July 2018 for more playing chances after struggling to break into the senior team. While they have a 30% sell-on clause inserted for any future transfers, the Parkhead outfit want him back following his swift rise at Hearts. The teenager has just a year left on his contract at Tynecastle and will be available for cheap should he decide to move on upon the side’s relegation. While Bayern are a move...
